1. What We Collect. Park Lantern collects minimal data necessary to operate the service:
- Device data: Device ID, WiFi signal strength, app version, and last-seen timestamp. Used for device health monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Subscription data: Email address (provided at purchase via Stripe), activation code, and subscription status. Used for billing and account management.
- Configuration data: Your selected parks, trips, weather locations, and display preferences. Stored on the device and synced to our servers for backup.
- Approximate location: IP-based geolocation (city, region, country) used at first setup to auto-detect your timezone and suggest a weather location. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates.
2. What We Don't Collect. We do not collect browsing history, personal photos, contacts, app usage beyond Park Lantern, or any data from other apps on the device. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data.
- To deliver live park data, weather, and show times to your device
- To manage your subscription and process payments (via Stripe)
- To monitor device health and push software updates
- To send transactional emails (activation codes, payment receipts, subscription reminders)
- To improve the product based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
4. Third-Party Services. Park Lantern uses the following third-party services:
- Stripe — payment processing. Your payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and never touch our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — hosting, DNS, and content delivery. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Queue-Times.com — park wait time data.
- ThemeParks.wiki — park hours, show times, and dining data.
- OpenWeatherMap — weather data.
5. Data Storage. Device configuration and subscription data are stored in Cloudflare KV (key-value storage) within Cloudflare's global network. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We retain your data for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after expiration, after which it is deleted.
6. Cookies. The Park Lantern website uses no tracking cookies or analytics. The device app does not use cookies. Cloudflare may set functional cookies for security and performance purposes.
7. Your Rights. You may request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@parklantern.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy. Park Lantern is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy. We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
